THE STARS ALIGN IN MINNESOTA ON NHL ALL-STAR WEEKEND
FEATURING A DISCUSSION ON THE CBA, YOUNG STARS,

SUPERSKILLS & THE GAME ITSELF - FEB. 7 & 8 IN HDTV

Hockey’s biggest stars gather for the NHL’s 54th All-Star game at the XCel Energy Centre in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 8 and CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada has wall-to-wall coverage of all the events in High Definition Television on Bell Express Vu, Shaw Cablesystems, Starchoice, Rogers Cable and Videotron.

Saturday, Feb. 7
Ron MacLean hosts a special All-Star Saturday Night beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET and moderates a discussion - Power Play 2004. The debate focuses around the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Joining the discussion will be prominent members from the NHL and the NHLPA; player agents’ Mike Gillis and J.P. Barry; and Rodney Fort, an economist, from the Washington State University.

At 8 p.m. ET, it's the Young Stars Game featuring the next wave of NHL talent, including Montreal’s Michael Ryder, Calgary's Matt Lombardi and Edmonton’s Raffi Torres playing in the fast-paced, wide-open four-on-four affair. Chris Cuthbert, Greg Millen and Glenn Healy call the action.

At 9 p.m. ET, It's the always-entertaining NHL Super Skills Competition featuring the fastest shot and skater to the most accurate shooter and best goaltender. Cuthbert, Millen and Healy, along with on-ice reporters Elliotte Friedman and Scott Oake.

At 11 p.m. ET, A special encore presentation of the Mega Stars Game from Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton featuring such legendary stars as Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers taking on Guy Lafleur and the Montreal Canadiens, presented in HDTV.

Sunday, Feb. 8:
Beginning at 3 p.m. ET, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada is on site for the 54th NHL All-Star game live from St. Paul, Minnesota. Ron MacLean hosts the telecast and Bob Cole calls the action alongside analysts Harry Neale and Scotty Bowman for the annual matchup between the stars from the Eastern and Western Conferences.

MacLean goes one-on-one with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, in the first intermission on the issues facing the game today.

The Satellite Hot Stove in the second intermission features MacLean and guests discussing the latest rumours from around the NHL. As well, a live performance by Canada’s own Bare Naked Ladies.
